Safety glasses

Bear was sniffing around through your stuff the other day and she told me that she found a picture of your safety glasses.  Why don't you show what you're wearing, since you never posted a picture of them before.

That is a good idea Wisker.  I do have a picture of my lampwork glasses on my computer.  I can't believe that Bear was on my computer, snooping.  But you know, she is a little nosey!

In my picture you can see that I added a pair of clip on magnifying lenses to my safety glasses.  I did that so that I can see close up what I am working on.  I like to add little dots and details to my beads so I need to actually see what I am doing.  I wear prescription glasses but I didn't want to spend a fortune on prescription Didymium glasses.  So, by clipping on these lenses to my Didymium glasses, I can see close up!  They are actually quite wonderful!  I got them on Ebay if anyone is wondering.

When you wear Didymium glasses it is much easier to see the flame and the bead you are working on!  They seem to cut down on the glare of the bright torch light thus allow you to see the bead better.  So there is an advantage to wearing these glasses, too!

P.S.  You should always wear eye protection.  There are Didymium glasses and Rose Didymium glasses specifically developed for lampworkers.  They protect your eyes from damage which lead to cataracts.  Plus, whenever working with any type of glass it is necessary to wear some sort of eye protection!
